The Fraud Strategy and Analytics Team
The Fraud Strategy and Analytics team at Affirm is at the forefront of developing, analyzing, and optimizing the company's online fraud decisioning strategy. This team is crucial for preventing fraud losses by working collaboratively across various departments, including Product, Engineering, Operations, and Finance, to ensure the accurate and effective execution of fraud strategies.
Role Overview: Full Stack Analyst
As a Full Stack Analyst, you will leverage extensive data analytics to uncover insights and refine fraud strategies. Your role involves significant cross-functional partnership: collaborating with Product teams to innovate new fraud features, working with Engineering to deploy online experiments for feature performance testing, assisting Operations with risk and resolution strategies, and engaging with Finance to discuss portfolio performance and loss forecasting. This position is a unique opportunity to contribute to Affirm's mission of transforming consumer finance through advanced data, technology, reduced costs, increased transparency, and superior customer experience.
What You’ll Do
- Proactively explore data to identify opportunities that accelerate product development or enhance existing Trust and Safety products.
- Drive analytical work for online experiments, optimizing strategies for improved conversion rates.
- Translate data analysis and trends into actionable recommendations for business logic to boost identity and fraud conversion rates or reduce fraud rates.
- Develop scalable frameworks for managing tiered cutoffs for proprietary fraud machine learning models.
- Evaluate innovative data sources to address fraud risk, partnering with the data engineering team to build and maintain data pipelines for core analytical datasets.
- Own the end-to-end analytics workflow, from defining success metrics and socializing them across the organization to creating actionable dashboards and reports.
- Collaborate with Machine Learning specialists to build fraud and identity verification strategies for new products, markets, and user segments.
- Partner closely with Product and Engineering to pinpoint high-impact areas in the user funnel to drive acquisition and retention.
What We Look For
- 2-4 years of professional experience in customer risk management, ideally within a payments or financial company.
- Fluency in SQL and Python.
- A collaborative team player capable of influencing various teams across the organization.
- Excellent communication skills, able to convey findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A strong passion for understanding product functionality and identifying areas for improvement.
- Robust time management skills and the ability to effectively juggle multiple projects and priorities.
- Capability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and maintain responsiveness during critical periods.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitatively rigorous field such such as engineering, statistics, mathematics, or economics is highly desirable.
- Foundational knowledge of payment processing and an understanding of industry risk trends, including familiarity with risk strategy development.
Compensation & Benefits
Affirm is a remote-first company offering competitive compensation, including a base pay range of £86,000 - £126,000 per year for UK-based roles. New employees typically start at the beginning of the pay range. The total compensation package includes monthly stipends for health, wellness, and tech spending, along with comprehensive benefits such as 100% subsidized medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents. Employees may also be eligible for equity rewards from Affirm Holdings, Inc.
