Job Overview - Transportation Engineer
As a Traffic Engineer at AECOM, you will plan, design, and implement traffic solutions to improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability. Working with state and city planners, civil engineers, and public stakeholders, you will develop data-driven strategies supporting Alabama’s growing infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct traffic/transportation impact studies and operational analyses.
- Design and review traffic signal systems, signage, and pavement markings.
- Collaborate on transportation planning and corridor studies.
- Utilize transportation software and simulation tools.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for clients and agencies.
- Support public engagement and address community concerns.
Qualifications
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field, 4 years of experience in traffic engineering or related field, and proficiency in AutoCAD/MicroStation, OpenRoads, Synchro, VISSIM, TransModeler, or HCS.
Preferred: Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, PE license (or ability to obtain within 12 months), and experience with ALDOT or state DOT transportation projects.
