Role Overview
The Transportation Drainage Engineer will lead the planning, design, and implementation of drainage systems for various transportation projects across Phoenix, Murray, and Denver. This role supports a flagship Progressive Design Build project involving the I84 & US 89 interchange, among other innovative projects.
Responsibilities
- Oversee drainage design and analysis for highways, roads, and transportation infrastructure.
- Lead a team of engineers and technicians to develop cost-effective solutions.
- Conduct hydraulic and hydrologic analyses using advanced modeling software.
- Ensure compliance with stormwater management and flood control regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including environmental and geotechnical experts.
- Prepare technical reports, design calculations, and construction documents.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources for timely delivery.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
- Represent AECOM in client meetings and public presentations.
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in transportation drainage.
Qualifications
Minimum: BA/BS in Civil Engineering with 4+ years of experience or equivalent.
Preferred: Professional Engineer license with 6+ years experience, familiarity with design software (MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D), hydraulic/hydrologic modeling (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, StormCAD), and experience in highway/roadway design in CO, AZ or UT.
