Job Overview
As a Transportation Engineer, you will plan, design, and implement traffic solutions that improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability. Working alongside state and city planners, civil engineers, and public stakeholders, you will utilize data-driven strategies to support Alabama's growing infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct traffic impact studies and operational analyses.
- Design and review traffic signal systems, signage, and pavement markings.
- Collaborate on transportation planning and corridor studies.
- Utilize traffic modeling software such as Synchro, VISSIM, and HCS.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for clients and agencies.
- Support public engagement and address community concerns.
Qualifications
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; 4 years of experience in traffic engineering or related fields; proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, OpenRoads, and traffic simulation software.
Preferred: Master's degree in civil engineering or related field; PE license or ability to obtain within 12 months; experience with ALDOT or other state DOT projects.
