Job Overview: Rail Design Engineer II

This role is part of AECOM's established Rail Engineering Department in the US. The Rail Team engages with professionals to deliver freight and transit rail projects including heavy rail, light rail, commuter rail, intercity passenger rail, and freight rail from planning through construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in a small rail & civil design group (3-5 employees).
  • Conduct engineering design and analytical work under experienced supervision.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates for rail and civil projects.
  • Use Bentley's OpenRail Designer and other BIM software.
  • Participate in proposal development and quality control reviews.
  • Direct engineers-in-training, designers, and technicians when required.
  • Travel occasionally for client visits and site assessments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with 2+ years of rail/civil engineering experience or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, OpenRail or similar BIM software.
  • Engineer in Training Certification (EIT) preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a transportation focus is a plus.

Additional Information

This full-time position in the US may require occasional travel. Note that H1-B sponsorship is not available. Compensation is based on education, experience, and work location, with a salary range between $70,000 and $105,000.
