Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Rail Design Engineer II to join our established Rail Engineering Department in the United States. This role involves working on heavy rail, light rail transit, commuter rail, intercity passenger rail, and freight rail projects, contributing from planning through final design and construction. You will use the latest OpenRail Designer software from Bentley within a team of professionals to deliver fast-paced, multi-discipline designs for a diverse client base.

Job Responsibilities

  • Be an integral member of a rail & civil design team of 3-5 employees.
  • Build analytic and design skills under supervision.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates for railroad track and civil projects.
  • Collect and analyze data and use computer software to solve engineering problems.
  • Participate in proposal development, marketing activities, and quality control reviews.
  • Direct engineers-in-training, designers, and technicians.
  • Travel for client visits, site visits, and construction inspections when required.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and at least 2 years of civil/rail engineering experience or equivalent. Preferred qualifications include proficiency with MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, OpenRail, or similar BIM software, Engineer in Training Certification (EIT), and a valid Driver’s License. A Master’s degree with a Transportation or Rail focus is a plus.

Additional Information

This position does not offer H1-B sponsorship and may require occasional travel. Compensation is based on qualifications and work location, with a salary range of $70,000.00 - $105,000.00. AECOM provides comprehensive benefits and fosters a global and collaborative work environment.
