Job Overview
The Rail Design Engineer II will join the established Rail Engineering Department in the United States. You will work on heavy rail, light rail, commuter rail, intercity passenger rail, and freight rail projects from planning to construction, using the latest OpenRail Designer software from Bentley.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a rail & civil design group of 3-5 employees.
- Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates for railroad track and civil projects.
- Conduct engineering design and quality control reviews under supervision.
- Utilize computer software to solve basic engineering problems.
- Assist with proposal development and marketing activities.
- Direct engineers-in-training, designers, and technicians.
- Travel as required for client visits, site inspections, and field assessments.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with 2 years of relevant experience is required. Proficiency in MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, or OpenRail is preferred. Engineer in Training Certification (EIT) and a valid driver’s license are also desirable. A Master’s degree with a focus on Transportation or Rail is a plus.
