What You Will Do
AEB generates energy from waste, supplying electricity and district heating to thousands of households annually. Our Amsterdam Westpoort site houses an incineration plant and a separation facility. This complex facility operates with processes including incineration, steam, and chemical treatment. The plant consists of two main units with six production lines, each undergoing planned and unplanned maintenance shutdowns. AEB boasts an impressive energy plant with six incineration lines, steam turbines, generators, and extensive flue gas purification systems, providing electricity and district heating to the Amsterdam region. The Overhaul Team manages installations where mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineering converge – from high-voltage substations and PLC/DCS systems to complex measurement and control equipment in flue gas purification. It's a dynamic technical environment prioritizing reliability, safety, and innovation. As a Project Leader Overhaul focusing on Electrical Engineering & Instrumentation (E&I), you will be responsible for preparing, coordinating, and controlling all E&I-related activities during overhauls and unplanned work. You ensure that installations and systems – from high-voltage distribution to measurement and control equipment – remain reliable and safe. You will collaborate closely with engineers, planners, and site supervisors, reporting to the Overhaul Manager. You will guarantee quality, safety, and progress within your domain, directly contributing to the continuity of our energy production. Your tasks and responsibilities include:- Defining and reviewing the technical scope within the E&I field.
- Coordinating and supervising overhauls and maintenance of electrical installations, control cabinets, control systems, and measurement and control equipment.
- Drafting technical specifications and compiling tender scopes with the maintenance engineer.
- Reviewing and documenting QA/QC-related activities within your domain.
- Evaluating technical and commercial offers in collaboration with Procurement.
- Monitoring schedule, quality, and safety during overhauls and unplanned work.
- Assigning tasks based on discipline, capacity, and priority.

- Reporting progress, deviations, and improvement points to the Overhaul Manager.
- Acting as a gatekeeper for additional and reduced work within the E&I field.
- Providing advice on optimizations and innovations in the electrical and instrumentation infrastructure.
Additional Information
During a 6-7 week overhaul period, one or two incineration lines are shut down, typically occurring twice a year. During this time, we work together intensively, including overtime. In the two weeks before and after the overhaul period, vacation is limited. Outside of these periods, you have more flexibility in managing your hours. You must be flexible due to unplanned work and may be called upon during weekends. We look forward to hearing from you soon!Key skills/competency
