Overview

The Salesperson and Store Driver role at Advance Auto Parts is an entry level position supporting DIY sales and parts delivery. The role requires basic automotive and parts knowledge, effective customer communication, and inventory management skills. It can be part time or full time, with fleet safety certification preferred for the driver responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities

Salesperson: Provide excellent selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone calls; achieve personal and store sales goals; offer DIY services such as battery installation, testing, and wiper installs; maintain store product and operational standards; and manage inventory tasks including truck put away, shoot outs, cycle counts, and back stock management.

Store Driver: Safely deliver parts to commercial customers; pick and stage parts for orders; handle returns and cores; drop off weekly/monthly sales flyers; and perform daily credit account collections.

Secondary Responsibilities

Maintain store cleanliness including floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, and parking lot upkeep; general stocking including truck stocking and back stock; and support safe parts delivery as needed.

Success Factors

Basic driving and navigation ability, proficient use of delivery board systems, friendly communication, strong safety knowledge, in-depth store inventory knowledge, and effective use of POS and diagnostic equipment.

Essential Job Skills

English fluency (Spanish a plus), effective communication, basic math skills, and flexibility to work various shifts including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

Sales: 2-3 years of successful retail sales experience. Driver: Valid driver's license, fleet safety certification, and automotive parts experience preferred.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The role requires walking, standing, and lifting up to 50 pounds (occasionally 100 pounds). Work may be performed indoors and outdoors, sometimes in varied weather conditions and around moving parts and chemicals.
