Overview

The Retail Parts Pro role at Advance Auto Parts is a professional level sales position supporting advanced functions of the DIY business. The position requires expert knowledge in store systems, automotive diagnostics, part sourcing, and customer service.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide GAS2 selling experience for DIY customer visits and calls
• Achieve personal and store sales goals and service objectives
• Manage DIY services including battery installation, testing, and wiper installs
• Maintain high standards for customer service and store appearance
• Perform key holder responsibilities including task assignment, safety, and open/close duties

Secondary Responsibilities

• Assist with store inventory processes (truck put away, shoot outs, cycle counts, back stock)
• Ensure store cleanliness including floors, bathrooms, and parking lot
• Provide additional DIY services as needed

Success Factors & Essential Skills

The ideal candidate demonstrates friendly communication, strong parts and automotive system knowledge, ability to operate inventory systems and POS, and proficiency with diagnostic equipment. They should be effective at troubleshooting, project assistance, and sourcing parts from various channels.

Essential Job Skills

• Working knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostics
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to read technical documents and follow instructions
• Basic mathematical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong organizational skills with flexible work availability (days, evenings, weekends)

Requirements & Certifications

3-5 years of automotive parts experience, proven sales ability, and a valid driver's license are required. ASE Certification is preferred but not mandatory.
