Overview

The Retail Parts Pro position at Advance Auto Parts is a professional level sales role supporting advanced DIY services. The role requires expert knowledge of store systems, automotive parts and systems, and has advanced troubleshooting and project assistance capabilities for DIY customers.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide GAS2 selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone calls
  • Achieve personal and store sales goals and service objectives
  • Manage DIY services including battery installations, testing, and wiper installs
  • Ensure high standards of customer service and store appearance
  • Perform key holder responsibilities including task assignment, safety, and open/close duties

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Assist in store inventory processes such as truck put away, shoot outs, cycle counts, and back stock
  • Maintain store cleanliness including floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, and parking lot
  • Provide additional DIY services (battery installation, testing, wiper installs)

Success Factors

Employ friendly communication, strong parts and automotive knowledge, safety awareness, and excellent sales and troubleshooting skills. The ideal candidate is proficient in operating POS, parts lookup systems and diagnostic equipment. ASE P2 certified or ASE ready equivalent is preferred.

Essential Job Skills

  • Knowledge of automotive and diagnostic systems (engine, suspension, brakes, electronic, exhaust)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (Spanish a plus)
  • Ability to interpret documents and follow instructions
  • Proficiency with basic math and Microsoft Word/Excel
  • Organizational skills and flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends

Prior Experience

3-5 years of automotive parts experience and proven sales ability are required.

Education and Certification

Must have a valid driver's license. ASE Certification is preferred but not required.
