Overview

The Retail Parts Pro at Advance Auto Parts is a professional level sales position designed to support advanced functions of the DIY business. This role requires expert knowledge in automotive systems, store systems, and parts. It involves advanced identification, troubleshooting, and project assistance for DIY customers, sourcing parts from multiple channels, and managing store inventory processes.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide GAS2 selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone calls
  • Achieve personal and store sales goals and service objectives
  • Manage DIY services including battery installation, testing, and wiper installs
  • Ensure high standards in customer service and store appearance
  • Execute key holder responsibilities such as task assignment, safety, and open/close duties

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Assist in store inventory processes including truck put away, shoot outs, cycle counts, and back stock management
  • Maintain store cleanliness including floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, and parking lot upkeep
  • Provide additional DIY services as required

Success Factors

Key success factors include friendly communication, efficient parts stocking, safety knowledge, operational expertise with inventory systems, and advanced skills in diagnostics and sourcing. ASE certification or equivalent expertise is a significant advantage.

Essential Job Skills

  • Working knowledge of automotive systems including engine, suspension, brakes, and electronics
  • Strong communication skills in English; Spanish is a plus
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and execute precise instructions
  • Basic math skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Organizational skills and flexibility to work varied hours including evenings and weekends

Prior Experience

3-5 years of prior automotive parts experience along with proven sales ability in customer transactions is required.

Education & Certifications

Valid driver's license is required. ASE Certification is preferred but not mandatory.
