Overview

ADP is seeking a Director, Privacy By Design who will lead the strategic integration of privacy protections into product development. The role focuses on embedding privacy into technology and business processes while ensuring compliance with global privacy regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Privacy Integration:

  • Champion PbD principles across all product lines.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams from ideation through deployment.

Governance and Framework Development:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive PbD framework aligned with GDPR, CCPA, ISO 27701.
  • Establish and enforce PbD standards such as data minimization and purpose limitation.

Design Reviews and Risk Assessments:

  • Conduct PbD assessments and privacy reviews to mitigate risks early.
  • Lead assessments for AI/ML systems ensuring ethical and compliant data use.
  • Manage the annual privacy attestation process and support external audits.

Privacy Engineering and Automation:

  • Partner with product teams to implement privacy controls using tools such as Jira.
  • Deploy privacy-enhancing technologies like encryption and anonymization.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Training:

  • Work closely with Legal, Compliance, Security, and Data Governance teams to align privacy requirements.
  • Develop training programs to promote a privacy-first mindset.

Product Roadmap and Innovation:

  • Participate in roadmap reviews to integrate privacy considerations into future planning.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and evolving privacy regulations.

Experience & Qualifications

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in relevant roles with at least 7+ years in privacy, security, or software development and 4+ years in privacy engineering or compliance. Proven expertise in developing PbD frameworks, deep understanding of global privacy laws, and strong leadership skills are required. Certifications such as CIPP, CIPT, or CISSP are highly desired. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent is mandatory; advanced degrees (MS/MBA) are a plus.
