About the role
Job Purpose
To provide technical analysis assistance to the research team and investment team to support their investment activities in terms of timing of investments by assimilating information in reporting formats that is in sync with ABC’s marketing and communications framework. The role entails in extending support and assistance to the research and investment team in conducting their primary work of investment analysis.
Job Context & Major Challenges
Aditya Birla Money Ltd. (ABML) is primarily a Broking Company, dealing in Equity, Commodity & Currency. Workforce of ~800 spread across ~40 locations with customer base of in excess of 3 lacs. Commodity operations are managed through its 100% subsidiary Aditya Birla Commodities Broking limited. ABML is one of the leading securities trading companies in the country. ABML operates in a fragmented equity broking business and has a daily turnover of close to 3,000 Crores with a market share of 1%. ABM works in a highly regulated environment with a host of regulators like SEBI, RBI, AMFI, FMC, IRDA etc. regulating its day to day operations. In addition to the regulator ABML is also subject to close monitoring and inspection through various agencies like NSE / BSE / NCDX / MCX / NSDL / CDSL etc. ABML also operates in a highly competitive market mainly in fragmented industry with ABML competition from major National Broking houses like ICICI Securities, HDFC Securities, Angel Broking, MOFSL etc. and a range of local Broking outfits.
Majority of the broking houses have set up in-house research team that scans companies and stocks as well as analyse macro-economic scenario that impacts the stock market. The Research team is involved in analyzing the financials, competitive advantages of the business, quality of management and competitive environment it operates in among other factors.
Key Responsibilities Of Research - Support
- Communicating to clients about the investment philosophy, investment framework and individual portfolio updates in client accounts.
- To provide technical analysis assistance to the research and investment team to support their investment activities in terms of timing of investments.
- Generating short to medium term calls, to help the trading and broking side of the business.
- Assisting the research and investment team in assimilating information in reporting formats that is in sync with ABC’s marketing and communications framework.

- To provide time-bound support to the research and investment team in carrying out their investment and research related work, as dissemination of actionable information is very critical in volatile markets.
- To identify near-term and medium-term trends ahead of competition, so as to provide investors/clients an opportunity to generate superior returns on a risk-adjusted basis.

KRA1: Production / Content Dissemination
- Supporting Action: To help the research/investment team in formatting, editing, and releasing ABM content across various platforms.
KRA2: Investor Communication / Trade Advisory
- Supporting Action: To communicate to clients the investment/research calls made by the fundamental team and explain the investment merit and risks to the clients so as to enable them to take informed investment decisions. To keep a tab on clients' portfolios, investment recommendations of ABM, and performance monitoring. To recommend investment proposals with stocks for long-term investment basis.
KRA3: Technical Analysis Based Actionable for Call Generation
- Supporting Action: To study charts, patterns, and correlations amongst various asset classes and price movements so as to pick up trends early and make actionable calls for clients/investors to act upon. To generate short to medium-term calls to support the trading and broking side of the business.
KRA4: Exchange Compliance regarding IBT
- Supporting Action: Submitting the IBT Trade/Volume confirmation in NSE and BSE.
