About Our Client

Our client is a manufacturing organization supporting a unionized hourly workforce across complex shift schedules. The payroll function includes a Payroll Manager, Payroll Analyst, and Payroll Coordinators, with oversight from Total Rewards leadership. The organization is undergoing significant system enhancements and is seeking an experienced UKG professional to optimize payroll operations and support system improvements.

Job Description: Human Resources Information System Analyst

The UKG Payroll Optimization Consultant will support payroll system improvements with a strong focus on UKG optimization, configuration, and project management. This role will assess current payroll processes, identify system inefficiencies, and lead optimization initiatives including UKG Talk implementation and new entity integrations. The ideal candidate will be a self-directed consultant with deep UKG configuration experience and strong payroll systems expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and optimize UKG payroll modules across U.S. and Canadian operations.
  • Identify system gaps, inefficiencies, and data discrepancies and implement process improvements.
  • Configure and optimize UKG WFM (Time & Attendance) and payroll modules.
  • Lead or support implementation and optimization of UKG Talk.
  • Serve as project lead for onboarding new entities into UKG and WFM systems.
  • Manage timelines, testing, data migration, and go-live activities for payroll projects.
  • Partner with HR, IT, Finance, Legal, and Operations to ensure accurate payroll integration.
  • Develop documentation, SOPs, and training materials to support system adoption.
  • Provide payroll expertise and support during system transitions and testing phases.
  • Support payroll processing and reporting as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of payroll experience with at least 3+ years focused on UKG payroll administration or optimization.
  • Hands-on UKG configuration experience (Required).
  • Strong experience with UKG WFM (Required).
  • Experience optimizing payroll systems and performing system clean-up initiatives.
  • Proven project management experience supporting payroll or HRIS initiatives.
  • Experience supporting union payroll environments preferred.
  • Experience with UKG Talk strongly preferred.
  • Previous consulting experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to work independently.

Additional Details

  • Primary focus is 100% UKG optimization and configuration.
  • Systems experience is the highest priority.
  • Experience with UKG Payroll and UKG WFM required.
  • SuccessFactors exposure preferred (HR module only).
  • Supporting union hourly workforce with shift premiums and complex pay rules.
