Job Purpose
Team Member - Aerodrome Safeguarding is responsible for supporting the overall safety and cleanliness of airside areas by conducting routine visual inspections, assisting in wildlife management activities, and ensuring foreign object debris (FOD) removal to maintain a hazard-free environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct Routine Visual Inspections: Perform regular visual inspections of airside areas to identify visible hazards such as litter, debris, or wildlife presence. Report findings promptly to ensure swift action is taken to mitigate any identified risks.
- Assist In Wildlife Management Activities: Support wildlife management efforts by participating in bird scaring and habitat modification activities as directed by senior staff. Maintain awareness of wildlife activity patterns and report unusual sightings to appropriate personnel.
- Ensure Cleanliness Of Airside Areas: Ensure airside areas, including runways and taxiways, are kept clean and free from foreign object debris (FOD) by participating in regular cleaning activities. Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure timely removal of identified hazards.
- Document Safety Observations: Record and report basic safety observations and concerns encountered during routine duties using designated formats. Assist in maintaining logs and documentation for safety audits and compliance checks.
- Participate In Safety Briefings: Attend safety briefings and training sessions to stay informed about aerodrome safeguarding policies and procedures. Engage in discussions to promote a culture of safety awareness among peers.
- Support Emergency Response Activities: Assist with basic tasks during emergency response drills or actual incidents, following guidance from supervisory staff. Help ensure that emergency equipment is available and in good working condition as part of the preparation for incident response.

Qualifications
- Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/ Physics, Environmental Science, Geography, or Safety Management or Aviation Management.
- Certifications: Certifications in ICAO Airport Services is required.
- Work Experience: 1-2 years of experience of aerodrome operations including a good understanding of ATS functions.
- Mandatory Knowledge: Aircraft Act 1934, Aircraft Rules 1937, GSR 751 MoCA, CAR Series B, Part I Aerodrome Design and Operations, CAR Series E, Part II Air Traffic Services, CAR Series X, Part III Aeronautical Charts, Aeronautical Information Service (AIS), NOTAMs, Aeronautical Information Regulation and Control (AIRAC) cycle, ICAO Annexes 4, 14 and 15, ICAO Airport Services Manual Part 6 – Control of Obstacles, DOC 9859, Safety Management Systems.
