Survey Party Chief

We are seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief to join our collaborative team in New York City. This role is essential in leading a survey crew for topographic, boundary, utility surveys, and construction layout on large-scale projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project managers to define goals and update progress.
  • Collect and process field data using advanced surveying equipment.
  • Interpret engineering plans, maps, and aerial photographs.
  • Perform construction layout, survey control, and utility data gathering.
  • Document project areas with photo records and detailed notes.
  • Apply advanced surveying techniques and mathematics.
  • Maintain and repair survey equipment.
  • Support office tasks including CAD drafting, data downloads, deed/map research, and filing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; Surveying coursework preferred.
  • 3–5+ years experience as a Survey Party Chief or Crew Chief.
  • Experience on larger-scale projects is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D and Carlson software.
  • Hands-on experience with Leica surveying equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license and OSHA 10 certification preferred.
  • Licensed Surveyor or pursuing licensure is a plus.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Expertise in topographic, boundary, utility surveys, construction layout, and GPS surveying.
  • Ability to manage complex survey projects with precision.

Pay And Benefits

This full-time position offers a salary range of $65,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year along with company-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid time off including parental and military leave, employee referral and professional license bonuses, and educational reimbursement.

Work Environment

This is a hybrid position based in Melville, NY.
