About the role
Project/Program Manager III
Responsible for the coordination and completion of temporary and permanent power deployment projects across a fulfillment network. Oversees all aspects of multiple concurrent projects spanning utility upgrades, natural gas generator installations, switchgear deployments, and air permitting across multiple states. Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors and summarizes progress of the program. Prepares reports for upper management regarding status of all projects.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and complete 12 simultaneous power solution projects across multiple U.S. sites.
- Oversee all aspects of the power deployment program from feasibility through commissioning and handover.
- Set deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor and summarize progress of all projects.
- Prepare reports for upper management regarding program status, including monthly flash updates and executive summaries.
- Direct the work of contractors, vendors, consultants, and cross-functional teams.
- Perform tasks ranging from technical design review to stakeholder management to regulatory coordination.
- Ensure specifications are met across all power infrastructure installations.
- Verify compliance of electrical equipment, switchgear, generators, and associated systems with technical standards and design requirements.
- Conduct quality reviews at each project phase to validate adherence to specifications before progressing to the next milestone.
- Manage end-to-end switchgear procurement process: specification development, vendor selection, purchase order issuance, and delivery tracking.
- Track switchgear lead times across all sites and ensure orders are placed to meet project timelines.
- Prepare and submit air permit applications across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory environments.
- Track permit application status, agency review timelines, and approval milestones for each site.
- Drive end-to-end project lifecycle: feasibility, design, procurement, permitting, installation, commissioning, and handover.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, risk registers, and status reports.
- Oversee deployment of temporary and permanent natural gas and diesel generator systems.
- Manage utility coordination including transformer upgrades, switchgear installations, and service upgrades.
- Serve as primary point of contact for utility companies, general contractors, generator vendors, and internal teams.
- Travel to project sites during critical installation and commissioning phases.
- Oversee equipment startup, testing, and acceptance procedures.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Energy Systems, or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on project management experience in electrical infrastructure, power generation, or utility-scale energy projects.
- Familiar with concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, including medium and low voltage switchgear, transformer sizing, installation, and commissioning, generator systems, utility interconnection and service upgrades, and power metering and protection systems.
- Experience managing 10+ concurrent projects simultaneously.
- Experience with switchgear procurement and air permitting.
- Ability to follow and verify compliance with technical specifications across all project deliverables.
- Proficiency with project management tools such as Asana, MS Project, or Smartsheet.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically during critical project phases.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- PMP, PE, or equivalent certification preferred.
- Experience with large-scale industrial/logistics facility power infrastructure.
- Knowledge of natural gas pipeline design, metering, and pressure regulation.
- Experience in CEQA compliance and non-attainment area permitting.
- Experience managing vendor proposals and procurement for generator rental/purchase.
