Opportunity: Summer Internship - Academic Measurement, Research & Development
We are seeking a Summer Intern to join our Measurement, Research and Development - Academic Measurement team. This internship offers a project-based experience in educational measurement, with a primary focus on item difficulty modeling and applications of Item Response Theory (IRT) within assessment development and analysis.
You will collaborate closely with experienced psychometricians, developing study plans, executing research, and presenting your findings. This is an exceptional opportunity for graduate students interested in educational measurement, quantitative psychology, or related fields to gain practical experience in advanced statistical modeling and assessment design.
Location & Duration
- This is a remote internship, based in the United States.
- The internship is scheduled from Monday, June 8, 2026, to Friday, August 14, 2026, with flexibility for the right candidate.
- Hourly Rate: $23.00 (not incentive or benefits eligible).
- Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Central Time.
Typical Job-Related Activities Include
- Reviewing related literature and developing a written study plan, familiarizing yourself with provided data.
- Writing syntax (e.g., in SAS/R) to conduct required statistical analyses.
- Summarizing all results and findings comprehensively.
- Drafting a research report and/or a conference proposal.
- Presenting your study during summer intern presentation sessions.
Qualifications
Education:
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program, having completed at least 2 years of work in a related area, preferably measurement or statistics.
Experience:
- Strong measurement and statistical knowledge, particularly in field testing and Item Response Theory (IRT).
- Demonstrated interest in educational research.
- Proficiency with SAS/R is preferred, along with previous research experience.
