Position Overview

The Peer Program Specialist role at ACMH Inc provides direct service to clients in their homes, teaching essential daily living skills. Reporting to the Program Director, the role is designed to support mental health recovery through skill training and self-advocacy.

Main Responsibilities

  • Teach personal hygiene, laundry, and apartment cleaning skills.
  • Monitor apartment maintenance and report issues to the Program Director.
  • Instruct budgeting, shopping, meal planning, meal preparation and clean-up.
  • Enhance self-preservation skills and ensure living unit safety and cleanliness.
  • Administer cooking safety tests and support self-administration of medication.
  • Document services, client progress and report behavior changes or incidents.
  • Escort clients and teach travel skills as needed.
  • Facilitate group sessions and support recovery skill building.
  • Attend training sessions and fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Candidates should have lived experience with mental health, substance, or homeless services, and a commitment to assist others through sharing personal experiences. A NYCPS certification is preferred. A high school diploma or GED, strong written and verbal English skills, and basic computer/data entry skills are required.

Compensation & Work Details
