Your Role as Group Copy Supervisor, Associate Creative Director Copy

You are a curious, collaborative life sciences creative copy leader dedicated to driving customer success and business results globally at scale. You possess deep experience in oncology and have worked across multiple brands and therapeutic areas. You excel at analyzing data to craft meaningful messages and approvable claims. As a proactive, self-motivated, and inspirational candidate, you combine strong writing sensibilities with an analytical and strategic mind. You are adept at navigating MLR reviews and comfortable interacting with both internal teams and diverse client audiences. You understand when to provide high-level guidance versus hands-on execution. Furthermore, you are an experienced supervisor and capable mentor, committed to helping your direct reports reach their full potential, and a client-facing professional, skilled in leading presentations and managing client feedback with ease.

The Work You'll Do

This role involves leadership in copy and content, with a strong background in writing for various healthcare audiences (HCPs, patients, caregivers). You will develop content that captures interest, builds trust, and adheres to regulations within the life sciences and health sectors. Collaboration is key, working with cross-functional teams including art/visual design, client services, performance marketers, data/analytics, and strategy.

You will create unique content for emerging media and tech, particularly useful in specialized healthcare platforms. The Group Copy Supervisor, Associate Creative Director Copy evaluates and writes copy based on clinical product information, extracts compelling narratives from clinical data and prescribing information, and confidently interacts with Life Sciences brand marketers as well as healthcare system/provider and patient audiences. You will quickly become familiar with the brand, science, and strategic issues for each project, leveraging experience in multiple therapeutic areas. You will also create campaigns and content aligned with clients’ strategic objectives, driven by a passion for improving patients' lives in a fluid, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pitch and present work both internally and to clients, demonstrating a clear understanding of strategic objectives and how messaging supports business goals.
  • Utilize copywriting skills to create engaging content for pharmaceutical and medical technology sectors based on communication objectives.
  • Ensure all content complies with FDA and/or PAAB medical compliance requirements and stays updated on regulatory changes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand brand guidelines, tone, and voice for different customer segments, incorporating feedback to optimize content resonance.
  • Navigate legal limitations for life sciences-related copy, developing strong experiences within regulatory frameworks.
  • Write long-form and short-form copy for various media, including email, digital ads, direct mail, SMS, sales collateral, websites, and landing pages.
  • Craft creative and compelling subject lines and strong Calls-to-Action (CTAs) that measurably impact marketing performance.
  • Align on content strategy and copy that drives user acquisition, engagement, and retention.
  • Consume research and derive insights into different audience segments, leveraging this to build user-centered, performance-driven content.
  • Ensure all copy, including that created by junior resources, maintains client style, quality, and tone of voice.
  • Think visually, considering the entire end product during content creation.
  • Collaborate closely with team members for a consistent, integrated customer experience.
  • Prioritize time management and expectation-setting, staying organized with deadlines and clearly communicating deliverable status.
  • Work with Creative Manager to provide guidance and recommendations for project plans and timelines, ensuring high-quality, timely content production.

What You'll Need

  • 6 years of copywriting experience at a pharma/life sciences advertising agency or related industry (e.g., medical/healthcare publishing).
  • Proven success in promotional copywriting for HCPs and Consumers in the Pharma Space (rare disease experience is a plus).
  • FDA content submission experience.
  • Ability to maintain working hours aligned with Eastern Standard Time (EST).
  • A University degree is required.
  • English proficiency is essential for regular interaction with global stakeholders across Canada, the US, and other English-speaking countries.

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Experience with AMA guidelines and understanding how to engage HCPs and patients to motivate action and engagement.
  • Experience with audience segmentation and tailoring content to improve relevance.
  • A passion for writing and storytelling, demonstrated in both long and short-form content (portfolio with campaigns/writing samples for print and digital required).
  • Exceptional interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills, with openness to feedback.
