The role of NetApp Storage Area Network Administration involves providing dynamic service and solving issues within multiple components of business-critical systems.

The Work

  • Plan, install, configure, and maintain NetApp storage systems (FAS, AFF series).
  • Provision storage (LUNs, volumes, qtrees, shares) based on requirements.
  • Monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize system tuning.
  • Implement and manage NetApp data protection, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Maintain storage security with access controls, permissions, and encryption.
  • Manage and troubleshoot storage protocols (NFS, CIFS/SMB, iSCSI, Fibre Channel).
  • Perform firmware and software upgrades on NetApp components.
  • Plan and monitor capacity, ensure future storage needs are met.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware/software storage issues efficiently.
  • Create comprehensive documentation of configurations and procedures.
  • Collaborate with IT teams for seamless integration of storage infrastructure.
  • Configure monitoring and alerting using NetApp management tools.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Stay updated on latest NetApp technologies and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in NetApp storage administrations.
  • In-depth knowledge of NetApp ONTAP operating system.
  • Expertise with NetApp data protection (SnapMirror, SnapVault) and disaster recovery.
  • Experience with multiple storage protocols: NFS, CIFS/SMB, iSCSI, Fibre Channel.
  • Familiarity with NetApp management tools like OnCommand System Manager.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Relevant NetApp certifications (NCDA preferred).
  • Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Python) and virtualization technologies.
  • Knowledge of ITIL framework and best practices.
