About the WASS Program
The Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program, an AAR business headquartered in Rockledge, FL, delivers global expeditionary and conventional aviation solutions to the US Department of State Air Wing.
Role Description
This role supports the Department of State’s Worldwide Aviation Support Services Contract for numerous RW and FW aircraft overseas in support of US diplomatic and counternarcotics missions, operating from Pucallpa, Peru and various Forward Operating Bases. As the principal Armament Technician, you will handle accountability, maintenance, and training for program weapons, ammunition, and explosives while advising and assisting aircrew and host nation personnel. You will report directly to the Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain an arms room in compliance with Physical Security of Arms, Ammunition, Explosives, and Storage regulations.
- Ensure 100% accountability of all weapons, ammunition, and other munitions.
- Prepare for scheduled and unannounced arms room inspections.
- Prepare briefings and act as subject matter expert on assigned weapons.
- Train, advise, and support aircrew with crew served weapons.
- Complete inventories and maintain proper documentation.
- Oversee daily operations and the safe issue and collection of weapons.
- Train, advise, and assist host nation personnel in the armament program.
- Conduct assessments and provide written reports to in-country leadership.
- Perform other duties as assigned and maintain a US security clearance.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- CMF 63 Mechanical Maintenance MOS series or equivalent military/commercial experience.
- Completion of weapons school related to the supported armaments.
- Seven years of experience in maintenance and repair of military weapons and weapons systems.
- Minimum five years experience with M240, M60D, M4 and/or M9 weapons.
- Experience managing an arms room.
- Proficient in English; Spanish fluency required at level 3/3 (speak, read, write).
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with arms room procedures according to AR 190-11.
- Experience training and advising host nation personnel in Central and South America.
- Prior experience with DoD Training and Assistance Field Team (TAFT) is advantageous.
- Experience in 45B MOS or equivalent service.
