Job Description
Legal and Business Affairs, International Distribution at A24
A24 is actively seeking a qualified attorney to join their Legal and Business Affairs team, focusing on providing essential support for a wide array of matters within A24’s International Distribution division. This role is ideal for a highly motivated self-starter with a strong interest in the international distribution of film and television content, becoming an integral member of a collaborative legal team.
Initial Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate, and manage international distribution agreements and associated security, financing-related, and ancillary documentation with international distributors, studios, broadcasters, and global streamers.
- In partnership with your manager, drive day-to-day business affairs and offer ongoing, proactive legal and business advice concerning various aspects of A24’s content distribution internationally.
- Provide comprehensive legal support for international co-financing and co-production agreements, as well as for film markets and festivals.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of deal parameters, deal memo templates, long-form agreements, contract management, precedent-tracking systems, and other departmental resources, processes, and procedures.
- Establish and maintain crucial internal and external stakeholder relationships through regular, effective, and timely communications regarding deal negotiation and business strategy.
Qualifications
- A qualified lawyer with a minimum of 4 years post-qualification experience.
- Preferred experience includes in-house entertainment business/legal affairs, entertainment finance, and/or entertainment law firm background.
- Extensive experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts; a strong understanding of intellectual property law as it relates to entertainment; and familiarity with the broader entertainment ecosystem (e.g., development, financing, production, distribution).
- Demonstrated success in taking initiative and ownership of projects, coupled with a willingness to learn and practice in new areas of the law.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Sound judgment, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently.
