About the Role

The Human Resources Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing across the organization. This role manages payroll data, maintains compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and works closely with HR and Finance to resolve payroll discrepancies. The position plays a key role in administering benefits deductions, tax withholdings, and wage garnishments while ensuring all payroll activities align with company policies and legal requirements.

What You’ll Do

  • Process and verify payroll for all employees on a regular schedule, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws.
  • Maintain and update payroll records, including employee information, tax data, benefits deductions, and timekeeping details.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee payroll inquiries.
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and required government reports in a timely manner.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing payroll documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Monitor and process wage garnishments, benefits deductions, and payroll adjustments.
  • Assist with payroll system updates, implementations, and software upgrades.
  • Generate payroll reports and provide analysis for leadership as needed.
  • Support onboarding activities and assist in recruitment-related tasks when required.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience in a corporate or organizational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Paychex, Workday, or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience supporting multi-state payroll operations is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Accounting, or Business Administration is a plus.
