Overview

This opportunity is for an experienced Business Analyst supporting the U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) within an Agile software development environment. The role focuses on translating business process needs into detailed technical requirements, supporting system enhancements, and ensuring high-quality delivery across the development lifecycle. The ideal Business Analyst brings strong experience in business process analysis, requirements documentation, Agile methodologies, and cross-functional collaboration. This role requires the ability to facilitate discussions, guide stakeholders, and support successful implementation of software solutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Review user stories within the product backlog and gain a solid understanding of required changes.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to clarify requirements and necessary updates.
  • Document detailed, testable, and traceable acceptance criteria for user stories and defect tickets.
  • Facilitate discussions between stakeholders and development teams regarding new functionality.
  • Test user stories and ensure appropriate documentation and evidence of testing.
  • Lead daily scrum meetings and support Agile ceremonies.
  • Develop agendas and lead backlog grooming sessions in coordination with Product Owners.
  • Lead demonstration sessions and present completed functionality to stakeholders.
  • Train stakeholders on new features and system functionality.
  • Document business processes, system changes, and maintain updated requirements documentation.
  • Provide comprehensive process documentation including Business Requirements, Functional Requirements, Data Requirements, System Software Specifications, and Use Cases.
  • Translate business process needs into technical requirements and support change management initiatives.
  • Support training efforts and user adoption initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum five (5) years of current experience in business process and system analysis, design, implementation, and improvement efforts.
  • Experience working in Agile environments and using JIRA.
  • Ability to produce detailed, comprehensive, testable, and traceable requirements documentation.
  • Strong communication skills across both technical and functional teams.
  • Experience providing change management and training support.
  • UI/UX experience with software applications is desired.
  • Scrum Master certification is preferred.
  • Testing-related certifications are a plus.

Compensation

$100,000 - $120,000 per year

Additional Information

Headquartered in Tyson’s Corner, VA. Occasional travel may be required. Final compensation is determined based on experience, skills, certifications, and contract provisions.
