Job Description

About 5W Public Relations

5W Public Relations is one of the largest independently owned PR and digital marketing agencies in the United States. Founded in 2003, 5WPR serves clients across consumer, technology, health, beauty, finance, gaming, cannabis, crisis, and digital marketing practices. Named PR Agency of the Year by the American Business Awards, a Top 50 Global PR Agency by PRovoke Media, and Digiday WorkLife Employer of the Year.

5WPR owns EverythingPR, the leading independent publication covering the public relations industry, published continuously since January 2009. We are now expanding our owned media network across the verticals we serve — giving 5W category-defining editorial authority in every practice area and making us the first PR firm to systematically build LLM citation authority at scale.

The Role

EverythingPR has been the leading independent publication covering the public relations industry since 2009. We are now expanding our owned media network across the verticals we serve — and we need an editor to run it.

The Editor of the EverythingPR Network sets editorial direction and voice across all properties, manages the editorial team, and is responsible for the quality and cadence of everything that publishes. You place 5W's research and client op-eds in tier 1 business media. You know the PR and marketing industry well enough to know what it needs to read — and you have the relationships to get it placed.

What You Will Own

  • Editorial direction and voice across EverythingPR and 5W's owned media network
  • Managing the Editorial Manager and the freelance writer roster
  • Client byline placement in tier 1 business media — Forbes, Fortune, Fast Company, Inc., Entrepreneur, Adweek, PRWeek, Harvard Business Review
  • Editorial packaging of 5W's proprietary research studies — every study publishes with full editorial treatment
  • Publishing cadence — the network publishes multiple pieces daily once fully operational
  • Style guide and editorial standards across all properties
  • Partnership with the Director of AI Visibility to ensure every piece is structured for LLM discoverability

What You Need

  • 7+ years in editorial — managing editor or editor-in-chief level at a trade publication, digital media property, or content marketing operation at scale
  • Proven tier 1 media placement track record — you can show the bylines
  • Strong instincts for what the PR and marketing industry cares about and what makes a story
  • Has managed writers and editors, not just written yourself
  • AP style fluency and deadline discipline
  • Understanding of how editorial authority translates to search visibility and LLM citation — you don't need to be technical, but you need to understand why it matters

How to Apply

Send your resume and: (1) what you think is the biggest story in the PR industry right now that nobody is covering well; (2) three commissions you would assign in your first 30 days; (3) three pieces you have edited or written that you are proudest of.
