Legal Operations & Legal Technology Specialist (Remote, Part-time Consulting)Job Summary
24-MAG is seeking experienced professionals for a part-time consulting opportunity specializing in legal operations and legal technology. This remote role focuses on structured reviews of legal workflows, technology analysis, contract lifecycle management (CLM), eDiscovery, matter and spend management, and intake processes. You will apply your expertise to evaluate realistic legal scenarios, assess process requirements, and produce detailed written outputs.
Key Responsibilities
- Legal Operations & Process Workflow Review: Evaluate legal operations scenarios including process maps, intake forms, matter workflows, and cross-functional legal processes. Assess legal workflow materials against source documents, requirements, and stakeholder needs. Identify process gaps and document expected legal operations outcomes.
- eDiscovery, Matter Management & Legal Spend Support: Review legal technology scenarios involving eDiscovery plans, matter management reports, e-billing materials, and spend data. Evaluate outputs against documented requirements, billing rules, and legal department expectations. Prepare written explanations for legal operations decisions based on source materials.
- CLM, Vendor Evaluation & Legal Technology Documentation: Review CLM scenarios such as contract lifecycle workflows, rollout plans, and vendor evaluation decks. Evaluate CLM and legal technology materials against defined use cases and workflow goals. Maintain accuracy and consistency across submitted work, potentially using platforms like Icertis, HotDocs, Contract Express, Relativity, Clio, MyCase, or similar.
Ideal Profile
- 3+ years of experience in legal operations, legal technology, eDiscovery, contract lifecycle management, matter management, legal spend management, law firm operations, in-house legal operations, or legal-tech implementation.
- Experience in areas like legal process improvement, intake, spend review, eDiscovery workflows, CLM, matter management, e-billing, knowledge management, or enterprise legal program design.
- Familiarity with tools such as Relativity, Icertis, HotDocs, Contract Express, Clio, MyCase, Ironclad, Agiloft, LinkSquares, SimpleLegal, Brightflag, TeamConnect, or similar legal technology platforms.
- Comfort reading and preparing legal operations artifacts like process maps, intake forms, matter-management reports, CLM rollout materials, eDiscovery plans, vendor-evaluation decks, legal spend reports, and implementation notes.
- Strong analytical thinking and written communication skills.
- Ability to translate legal operations workflows into clear, structured task documentation.
Educational Background
A degree or professional background in legal operations, law, business administration, information systems, project management, legal technology, paralegal studies, or a related field is helpful. Equivalent practical experience in legal operations, eDiscovery, CLM, matter management, legal spend management, or legal technology implementation is also highly relevant.
