Job Description

Our San Francisco studio seeks a highly motivated Finance Business Partner & Project Controller to join our Finance and Operations Team in a hybrid role. The position blends project accounting, financial planning & analysis, and strategic advising for senior staff and project leaders in a design-focused professional services environment.

What Will You Do?

  • Advise studio leaders and project managers on financial matters.
  • Support firm-wide budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning.
  • Provide insights on labor utilization, overhead allocation, and project profitability.
  • Assist with project setup, budgeting, cost tracking and financial monitoring.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and financial analysis for leadership.

Project Accounting & Control

  • Assist in project setup, budgeting, and financial health monitoring.
  • Review contract financial terms and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Manage invoicing processes, client billing, and revenue recognition.
  • Prepare project-level and consolidated financial reports.

Reporting, Analysis & Process Improvement

  • Support ad hoc reporting and financial performance reviews.
  • Identify margin improvement opportunities and fee structure inputs.
  • Enhance internal financial controls, dashboards, and reporting systems.
  • Collaborate with IT and operations to improve financial tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
  • 5–7+ years experience in project accounting, FP&A, or finance, ideally in the A/E/C industry.
  • Experience with financial systems such as Deltek Vision, Oracle, and ERP systems.
  • High proficiency in Excel and knowledge of BI tools being a plus.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, communication and relationship management skills.
  • International experience is highly desired.
