Director of Design - UTA Brand Studio
UTA Brand Studio is seeking a passionate, collaborative, and experienced Design Director to join its leading team of designers, strategists, and creative specialists. The Brand Studio is UTA’s in-house strategic design and client brand management team, delivering award-winning, best-in-class creative solutions for a top-tier client roster including actors, athletes, musicians, writers, producers, directors, gamers, and digital creators. Incubated within UTA, one of the world’s largest talent, sports, and entertainment agencies, since 2012.
About the Role
Reporting to the Creative Director and the agency’s Head of Design, the Design Director will serve as a thoughtful creative strategist and an inspiring, detail-oriented client brand manager, with a strong foundation in graphic design. The ideal candidate will possess a proven background in corporate identity design, strong concept development skills, excellent typographic touch, and robust communication principles. You will lead project teams and spearhead initiatives for our clients, developing culturally relevant, progressive creative solutions for new companies, ventures, IP, and creative initiatives in collaboration with other business development groups within the agency.
What You Will Do
- Lead project teams in conceptualizing and building relevant and engaging visual identity programs from the ground up, creating emotional and resonant worlds for clients and their brand initiatives.
- Innovate, design, and expand on tent-pole, in-house marketing and communication initiatives, including specialty programming and identity/campaign design solutions for global events within the entertainment and media landscape.
- Work closely with team members and agency partners to realize compelling design solutions across channels and mediums, including print, packaging, and digital implementation design.
- Lead the development of all stages of the design process, from sketching, brainstorming, and initial concepting, through final production and building assets and guidelines for delivery to clients and their partners.
What You Will Need
- Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design or a relevant field of study strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of prior work experience in a design or branding agency or in-house design studio.
- Demonstrated portfolio showcasing strong conceptual thinking, excellent written communication skills, and a strategic understanding of design execution.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and entrepreneurial, with a passion for a collaborative, entertainment-driven, fast-paced, consumer-culture environment.
- Ability to prioritize and meet competing project deadlines.
- Ability to inspire and learn from teammates, taking initiative and meeting design challenges with optimism, innovation, and focus.
- Excellent typography and drawing skills.
- Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite and Figma (experience with Keynote and Canva a STRONG plus).
- Experience with motion graphics, AI image development, and 3D cinema programs is also a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and meet delivery deadlines.
