Overall Description
Utilizing knowledge gained from previous year of engineering experience, this position is responsible for undertaking engineering/quality assurance assignments that are considered to be of "basic complexity" in size and scope. This position is further responsible to provide technical support and direction for engineering/quality assurance activities including the definition and coordination for design review and implementation, establishing inspection plans, program/project development and consulting, statistical methods, audits, and continuous improvement approaches to ensure activities are consistent with SEPTA mission values and goals.Specific Responsibilities
I. General (Applicable to all)
- Consults with senior level engineer/supervision-quality assurance in project definition.
- Exercises good judgment in application of basic engineering and quality assurance principles.
- Generates written memoranda, technical reports, specifications, audits, etc. in a professional manner.
- Assists in Engineering (Architectural) design and analysis in assigned field (i.e. CE, ME, EE, Structural, Track, and C&S).
- Assists in investigations/field surveys.
- Be aware of and practice standards as applicable to assigned field.
- Reviews drawings for accuracy and completeness coordinating with other specialty groups within the department where necessary/advisable.
- Assists in preliminary planning layouts/sketches where dictated by assigned task/project.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- B.S. Degree in Engineering (or Bachelor’s in Architecture for an architectural position) and one (1) year of satisfactory progressive relevant work performance that indicates that the individual can perform the technical and supervisory responsibilities of the position.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required.
