Revolution Medicines is a late-stage clinical oncology company developing novel targeted therapies for patients with RAS-addicted cancers. The company’s R&D pipeline comprises RAS(ON) inhibitors designed to suppress diverse oncogenic variants of RAS proteins. The company’s RAS(ON) inhibitors daraxonrasib (RMC-6236), a RAS(ON) multi-selective inhibitor; elironrasib (RMC-6291), a RAS(ON) G12C-selective inhibitor; zoldonrasib (RMC-9805), a RAS(ON) G12D-selective inhibitor; and RMC-5127, a RAS(ON) G12V-selective inhibitor, are currently in clinical development. As a new member of the Revolution Medicines team, you will join other outstanding professionals in a tireless commitment to patients with cancers harboring mutations in the RAS signaling pathway.
The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Executive Director, Head of Commercial Japan, the Associate Director, New Product Planning & Compound Strategy will lead commercial discipline for Revolution Medicines' lung cancer pipeline in Japan. This individual will lead Japan compound strategy, new product planning, and companion diagnostic (CDx) strategy across indications to maximize the commercial potential of pipeline assets and enable successful commercialization of precision oncology therapies.
Working across Commercial, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Diagnostics, and Global teams, this role will translate established Japan and Global commercial strategy into integrated execution plans, influence key development and commercialization decisions, and lead execution across disciplines to ensure launch readiness and long-term portfolio success.
This position is based in Tokyo, Japan.
Responsibilities include:
Compound Strategy and Portfolio Planning

Lead the Japan commercial discipline across cross-functional teams to develop integrated Japan compound strategies for lung cancer pipeline assets, ensuring alignment with overall corporate and commercial objectives.

Lead development of compound-specific commercial strategies, incorporating customer insights, competitive intelligence, market dynamics, biomarker strategies, lifecycle planning, and portfolio prioritization.

Partner with Global Commercial, Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, and Market Access to influence Target Product Profiles (TPPs), indication sequencing, evidence generation priorities, lifecycle management, and commercialization strategies.

Identify highly complex commercial opportunities and business challenges that impact commercial success and translate insights into actionable strategic recommendations.

Lead commercial assessments, forecasting assumptions, scenario planning, and business case development to support investment prioritization and portfolio decision-making.
New Product Planning and Launch Readiness

Lead Japan new product planning activities from late-stage clinical development through commercialization.

Lead the development of integrated launch strategies, including customer segmentation, value proposition, positioning, messaging, and go-to-market planning.

Partner across disciplines to establish launch readiness plans, milestone management, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies that support successful commercialization.

Integrate customer, patient, market, and competitive insights into strategic recommendations and launch planning.

Partner with Market Access to ensure pricing, reimbursement, and patient access considerations are incorporated into commercial strategy and launch readiness.

Own the preparation of Japan Commercial inputs to annual operating plans, long-range planning, commercial forecasts, and strategic investment decisions for pipeline assets.
Companion Diagnostics Strategy

Lead the development and execution of Japan companion diagnostic (CDx) strategies across disease states, with primary responsibility for lung cancer pipeline assets.

Develop integrated patient identification strategies, biomarker adoption plans, and testing pathway optimization to maximize patient access and enable successful commercialization across disease states.

Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for Japan diagnostic partners and lead strategic collaborations to support companion diagnostic development, regulatory readiness, commercialization, and testing implementation.

Provide cross-functional leadership to align Commercial, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, Global Diagnostics, and external diagnostic partners on CDx development and commercialization strategies.

Shape the companion diagnostic landscape across disease states by influencing testing policies, diagnostic pathways, biomarker adoption, and strategic collaborations to improve patient identification and access.

Represent Japan Commercial in Global companion diagnostic governance to ensure alignment of Japan market needs with global CDx strategies across disease states.
Required Skills, Experience and Education:

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, PharmD, PhD, MSc, or equivalent) preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of progressive pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology commercial experience required.

Minimum of 3 years of Oncology Marketing, New Product Planning, Early Commercial, or Commercial Strategy experience required.

Demonstrated experience in Companion Diagnostics (CDx), biomarker-driven oncology, or precision medicine required.

Proven product launch experience required.

Demonstrated experience developing compound strategies, commercial assessments, portfolio strategies, lifecycle management, or launch strategies for pipeline assets preferred.

Strong understanding of the oncology ecosystem, including patients, healthcare professionals, institutions, payers, diagnostic stakeholders, and biomarker testing pathways.

Demonstrated ability to provide leadership across disciplines and influence cross-functional teams in a matrix environment without direct authority.

Proven ability to identify and resolve highly complex business challenges and translate strategic insights into commercial recommendations.

Strong strategic thinking, analytical, forecasting, and business planning capabilities with a track record of driving business impact beyond the immediate function.

Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-growing biotechnology environment.

Fluency in Japanese and business-level English required.
