About the Role
The Product team at Plaid builds the network powering the future of financial services, with a mission to unlock financial freedom for everyone through open finance. We are looking for curious, customer-obsessed Product Managers who move quickly, take ownership, and make sound decisions with imperfect information.
As a Product Manager on the AI Foundations team, you will drive Plaid’s AI strategy by developing the data and intelligence layer for smarter financial experiences. You will collaborate with engineering, data science, and research to build scalable AI systems, encompassing core embeddings, representation learning, and applied model integrations.
This role is ideal for an experienced PM skilled at the intersection of AI and platform products. You are technically fluent, strategic, and execution-oriented, enjoying the process of turning advanced machine-learning capabilities into reliable, scalable infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- AI Platform Vision: Define strategy, roadmap, and success metrics for Plaid’s core AI and data foundation.
- System Development: Partner with Engineering and Data Science to design scalable AI systems, including model training pipelines, evaluation, and APIs.
- Product Execution: Drive initiatives from concept to production, balancing rapid experimentation with reliability, transparency, and responsible AI practices.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with research, platform, and product teams to integrate AI capabilities across Plaid’s products and developer platform.
- Measurement and Iteration: Utilize metrics, model performance data, and customer feedback to validate impact and drive continuous improvement.
- Communication and Alignment: Translate complex AI concepts into clear narratives and tradeoffs for diverse stakeholders, fostering shared understanding.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of product management experience, with a proven track record in leading AI/ML or applied intelligence products from concept to production with measurable impact.
- Deep technical fluency in modern ML system training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
- Strategic and executional range, capable of defining long-term AI vision while delivering near-term experiments and launches.
- Platform mindset with experience building scalable developer or data platforms.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, adept at translating complex AI concepts for various audiences.
- Commitment to responsible AI and transparency, particularly in regulated or high-trust domains.
- [Nice to Have] Hands-on experience with LLMs, embeddings, or agentic systems in production.
