Position Summary
The Location Controller will lead the Finance team at the SSO Miami site, supporting the SSO Segmental Controller in achieving the Annual Operating Plan. This role is responsible for the safeguarding and ethical accounting of all location's assets in conformance with GAAP, and for providing leadership to manage the business using the Win Strategy. Ensuring compliance with corporate/division policies, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) is critical, as this role serves as the Compliance Officer of the site. Key functions include Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, General Ledger, Budgeting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Sarbanes Oxley, financial reporting (external and internal), and performance measurements.
Scope/Supervision And Interaction
This position has direct reports, leading an overall team of seven, with two direct reports. It requires frequent interface with managers and supervisors at all levels of the organization, both locally and across group and division levels, on accounting, internal control, and business-related topics.
Essential Functions
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets, and perform analysis of financial results against objectives.
- Prepare weekly financial forecasts, analyzing significant changes in assumptions and highlighting risks and opportunities by product group.
- Direct financial performance measurements at the location, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to meet division and group needs.
- Ensure proper procedures, policies, and controls are in place for adequate internal control of the business, including annual SOX self-testing.
- Prepare and monitor pricing rates in accordance with government regulations and disclosed practices.
- Respond to special financial requests and analysis, communicating potential problem areas and conducting financial reviews as requested.
- Lead internal and external audit interactions for the site.
- Oversee the proper staffing of all accounting positions, ensuring technically qualified personnel and maintaining training and development programs. Review succession plans annually.
- Support the annual division planning process with emphasis on implementing a proactive reporting system for management decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- MBA degree or professional designation desired.
- 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in accounting.
- Knowledgeable of Federal Acquisition Regulations and Cost Accounting Standards.
