Position Summary
The Electrician position performs routine electrical troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and repair duties requiring a basic knowledge of industrial electrical/electronic theory. Must also be knowledgeable of medium and high voltage equipment related to water and wastewater treatment and production equipment which may include: ozone generators, chemical equipment, air compressors, valve actuators, motors, variable frequency drives, and various other equipment. Individual is expected to identify electrical hazards, troubleshoot and remedy problems using independent judgment. The Electrician may provide work site coaching and mentorship to apprentices and assistants.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain various water and wastewater treatment, purification and production related equipment and facilitate electrical repairs.
- Coordinate with water and wastewater operations personnel to ensure critical equipment is operational.
- Assist other departments with various tasks during emergency repairs or routine maintenance.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and repair tasks as specified in equipment manuals.
- Locate and determine the root cause of electrical malfunctions.
- Observe safe work practices, including confined space entry and lock out tag out.
- Maintain records of work performed and provide follow-up reports within the work order management system.
- Participate in a regular twelve-hour shift schedule and work overtime when needed.
- Be on rotational "ONCALL" status to respond to NTMWD repairs outside of normal business hours.
- Attend all required trainings and prioritize safe work practices.
- Remain current on all required continuing education for Journeyman License.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
- Minimum of two years of experience as an Electrician in an industrial setting.
- Must possess a valid Electrical Journeyman’s license or obtain one within 24 months.
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledgeable of electrical theory and practices.
- Knowledgeable of safety pertaining to electrical distribution systems and equipment.
- Proficient in the use of electrical diagnostic tools and equipment and interpretation of results.
- Ability to safely and efficiently perform repairs to electrical distribution systems and equipment.
- Proficient in the use of the District Computerized Maintenance Management System.
- Ability to comprehend and administer written and oral instructions.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals, drawings, schematics, blueprints, and safety data sheets.
Environmental and Physical Working Conditions
- Driving a District vehicle for business will be required.
- Heavy physical exertion with lifting requirements from 10 to 70 pounds daily.
- Work requires pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, and working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Working conditions include exposure to high voltage areas, weather, odor, noise, chemical hazards, gases, and dust.

Every Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and every other Wednesday from 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
