We're seeking creative, collaborative, and self-driven professionals across all areas of our business - from developing cutting-edge solutions to sales, marketing, customer support, and beyond. Join us in our mission to make the financial industry stronger and more resilient, while advancing your career in a supportive, dynamic environment that values your unique skills and perspectives.
About The Role
We’re currently looking for a few Senior Developers to join the team and help us build and integrate our products. At this level, you own the architecture and delivery of large features within a squad – applying deep, in-depth expertise to complex problems, making the technology and architecture decisions for your team, and frequently advising and mentoring others. You exercise strong independent judgment and are accountable for outcomes that matter to your team and the products you build.
Engineering Philosophy
As an engineering organization, we’ve come to share several common beliefs:
- We believe that it’s possible to build applications in a sustainable and repeatable way.
- We believe that user story mapping, design sprints, and close collaboration with product folks are the best way to determine what needs to be worked on.
- We believe that Kanban keeps our development efforts flowing forward and helps proactively identify bottlenecks.
- We believe finishing is better than starting.
- We believe that small teams working on well-defined projects for a set amount of time ensures that we build the most valuable things first and allows for a predictable date of completion.
- We don’t believe in estimating individual stories. Ever.
Senior Developer Responsibilities and Behaviors
A Senior Developer at Ncontracts is expected to exhibit the following behaviors:
- Leadership by example: Use best practices for development, communicate excellently both inside and outside the organization, manage interpersonal relationships well, and lead by example in code reviews and technical discussions.
- Architecture ownership: You architect large features and services, make the technology and architecture decisions for your team, and lead architectural reviews and decision-making – balancing technical excellence with pragmatic delivery.
- Intentional mentorship: Ncontracts is dedicated to teaching and growing talent, and at this level, mentorship is expected. You mentor other developers formally and informally and help create learning opportunities for the team.
- AI-forward engineering: You integrate AI agents or assistants into your workflow to move faster while critically evaluating their output – catching subtle bugs and security issues in AI-generated code and helping establish sensible AI usage guidelines for your team.
- Instinctive troubleshooting: Rapid diagnosis and resolution of bugs and problems is essential to a productive team. You debug complex issues across the stack quickly and are frequently consulted by others for difficult problems.
- Honesty: Whether reviewing another developer’s code, participating in retrospectives, or working with your team on what direction to take a project, we expect openness and honesty. Honesty creates trust, and we believe that all great teams are built on trust.
- Low ego: Have confidence in your skills and experience, but be willing to alter your opinions and ideas when another, better one comes along. Have strong opinions, but loosely held.
- Deep curiosity: You’ll be expected to research new and exciting technologies, perfect the use of existing technologies, and discover new libraries and tools that can affect change across the organization.
- Motivation: You’re a natural self-starter, and you enjoy solving problems. You are capable of jumping in with minimal instruction and figuring out what should be done.
