Job Summary
HPE Networking is seeking a Senior Presales Systems Engineer to join our Cloud Go-to-Market organization. This customer-facing technical leadership role focuses on campus and branch networking solutions, including wired and wireless infrastructure, SD-WAN, security, and network access control. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in campus and branch use cases, with a strong understanding of data center and WAN architectures, enabling them to contribute to broader customer discussions and multi-domain opportunities. You will be a subject matter expert, providing technical leadership and pre-sales support to design and deliver technology solutions that meet customer business needs, building trust and driving customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the senior pre-sales technical advisor for cloud-scale customers, focusing on campus, branch, SD-WAN, security, and access control architectures.
- Partner with Account Managers to identify, qualify, and advance opportunities from discovery through closure.
- Lead customer discovery and translate business, operational, and technical requirements into solution architectures and roadmaps.
- Design and present solutions covering wired and wireless campus networking, branch networking, SD-WAN, security, NAC, automation, and cloud-managed operations.
- Support customer conversations involving traditional enterprise environments as well as industrial, warehouse, manufacturing, and distributed site requirements.
- Contribute to broader discussions involving data center and WAN architectures, coordinating with domain specialists as needed.
- Represent and position the full HPE Networking portfolio, including Juniper, Aruba, Mist, Silver Peak, and related networking, security, automation, and AI-driven operations solutions.
- Build and deliver technical proposals, presentations, workshops, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept engagements.
- Articulate HPE Networking differentiation and position solutions effectively against competitive alternatives.
- Engage with internal engineering, product management, services, and partner teams to remove blockers and align solutions to customer outcomes.
- Maintain strong awareness of market trends, competitive positioning, and emerging technologies.
- Develop trusted relationships with customer engineers, architects, operations leaders, and decision-makers.
- Support channel and partner engagement to expand reach and influence within accounts.
- Travel regularly to customer sites, internal meetings, and strategic events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Significant pre-sales systems engineering, solution consulting, or related customer-facing experience in enterprise or cloud-focused environments.
- Deep experience in campus and branch networking, including wired, wireless, SD-WAN, security, and network access control.
- Experience with network access security solutions (e.g., HPE Aruba ClearPass, Juniper Access Assurance, Cisco ISE).
- Solid working knowledge of data center and WAN technologies; direct hands-on experience preferred.
- Experience supporting complex customer environments and translating technical capabilities into business value.
- Strong consultative selling skills and ability to influence technical and business audiences.
- Experience leading technical sales cycles, including discovery, technical validation, solution positioning, and proof-of-concept execution.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, engaging from engineer to executive level.
- Proven track record of building trusted customer relationships and partnering effectively with sales, partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Comfort operating in fast-moving, ambiguous, and highly competitive markets.
- Willingness and ability to travel to customer locations primarily throughout the United States, with occasional international travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in cloud, large enterprise, or distributed multi-site customer environments.
- Experience with campus switching, wireless, branch networking, SD-WAN, SASE, NAC, security, data center networking, and WAN/routing.
- Familiarity with modern networking operations, AI-driven management, and automation platforms.
- Experience representing or supporting broad infrastructure portfolios across multiple networking domains.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Aruba, Juniper, Cisco).
