DevOps Engineer II

Golden 1 Credit Union is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer II to lead automation processes for Infrastructure as Code deployment in Microsoft Azure and On-Premises environments. This role involves deploying product updates, identifying production issues, and implementing customer-focused integrations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering, with significant experience in Terraform, Python, and PowerShell.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead infrastructure-as-code development using Terraform, Python, and PowerShell for scalable and reliable deployments.
  • Manage Linux/Kubernetes cluster environments and support development teams on API integration strategies.
  • Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for faster and more reliable software releases.
  • Monitor systems, create alerts, provision metrics, and ensure application uptime and performance.
  • Implement and operate cloud platform services and standards in Microsoft Azure, focusing on reliability, security, and scalability.
  • Conduct root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and design tests for infrastructure failure investigation.
  • Create and maintain response playbooks, develop automation to eliminate toil, and improve time to action and repair.
  • Analyze operational metrics, implement effective monitoring, and reduce alert fatigue.
  • Manage container orchestration environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and optimize deployment workflows.
  • Implement code branching strategies using GitHub and advanced Terraform syntax and GitLab CI/CD.
  • Provision metrics in Prometheus, Thanos, and Grafana, and manage alerts.
  • Ensure infrastructure changes comply with reliability, security, and cost controls.
  • Maintain operational documentation and runbooks for cloud platform services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) in computer science, engineering, or a relevant field.
  • Over 4 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer in medium to large-scale environments.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server, Linux, and hybrid cloud deployments using Microsoft Azure and VMWare.
  • Skilled in Git/GitHub workflows, Terraform, Python, PowerShell, and container orchestration (Tanzu, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps) and observability platforms (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, ThousandEyes).
  • Knowledge of log management (ELK Stack) and database technologies (PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL).
  • Strong background in automating infrastructure provisioning and application deployment using Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
  • Experienced in building observability pipelines and performing advanced queries in Splunk.
  • Microsoft Azure DevOps Engineer Expert Certification (Required), Kubernetes Administration Certification (Required), Linux Certification (Desired).

Working Conditions

Work may include weekend and after-hours time based on organizational needs. This position is based in-office, with sufficient lighting, temperature, audio, and workspace.
