About the role
Senior Director, Creative
We are building a Brand team designed for the speed, scale, and ambition of an AI-era business. Our operating model is structured around two modes: infrastructure work that scales creative capability across the company, and craft work where the full team comes together around the initiatives that define us. As Senior Director, Creative, you will set and uphold the creative standard across both modes, leading design, video, and copy as a unified, high-performing system. You will bring clarity to ambiguity, shaping strong creative direction in fast-moving, cross-functional environments. Partnering closely with Creative Operations, you will ensure creative vision and execution move in lockstep, enabling the team to deliver high-quality, impactful work at pace while continuously evolving the brand.
At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.
What You’ll Do:
- Set and uphold the creative standard across design, video, and copy, defining what high-quality work looks like across all initiatives
- Lead and develop people managers and Discipline Leads, elevating their thinking, strengthening craft, and growing the next generation of creative leadership
- Drive the evolution of the Datadog brand, shaping visual language, storytelling, tone, and point of view across channels
- Provide clear, confident creative direction in ambiguous or fast-moving environments, guiding teams toward strong, cohesive outcomes
- Elevate work across disciplines through precise, actionable feedback and strong creative judgment
- Partner closely with Creative Operations to align creative vision with resourcing, workflows, and AI-powered systems that enable execution at scale
Who You Are:
- Strong creative point of view with the ability to define and communicate high standards across design, video, copy, and emerging AI-enabled formats
- 15+ years of experience in leading cross-disciplinary creative teams and aligning multiple craft areas under a cohesive vision
- Proven ability to develop and mentor creative leaders, scaling impact through others rather than individual output alone
- Deep understanding of how creative work is produced, with an appreciation for operations, systems, and scalable workflows
- Leads how AI is integrated into creative work, using it as a creative lever to expand output and scale, while setting clear standards for where human craft remains non-negotiable
- Able to translate ambiguity into clear creative direction, providing specific, actionable feedback that elevates work across disciplines while balancing consistency and evolution of the brand
