The Opportunity
DAT is looking for a Manager of Event Marketing to join our team working hybrid in Denver, Colorado or Seattle, Washington. The Manager of Event Marketing is the driver of DAT's event program: three signature customer events (Broker Executive Symposium, Carrier Summit, Shipper Summit) and up to 20 trade show events annually. This role requires someone who can make strategic decisions about event content, audience, and format while managing all logistics, budgets, and vendor relationships. The Manager leads one Sr Events Specialist and manages agency partners for logistics support.
Candidate Profile: What You’ll Do
- Plan and execute DAT's three proprietary events: Broker Executive Symposium, Carrier Summit, and Shipper Summit.
- Plan, budget, and execute DAT's trade show presence across 12-15 industry events annually (MATS, TIA, Gartner Supply Chain, TAI, Revenova, McLeod, and others).
- Collaborate with segment leadership on event content, speaker lineups, audience composition, and format.
- Negotiate venue contracts, manage vendor relationships, and oversee event budgets ranging from individual trade show booths to multi-day proprietary conferences.
- Partner with segment marketing leaders to align event programming with business objectives for carrier, broker, shipper, and Outgo segments.
- Coordinate across marketing pillars (content, creative, demand gen, comms) to ensure event-related deliverables (collateral, promotional campaigns, PR coverage, lead capture) are executed on time.
- Supervise the Sr Event Specialist and any additional direct reports on day-to-day execution.
- Build and maintain post-event reporting including attendance, pipeline influence, customer sentiment, and ROI analysis.
- Manage the annual event calendar, space selection, sponsorship inventory, and overall event budget.
- Serve as an internal resource on event best practices, vendor relationships, and industry event trends in freight and logistics.
- Have the ability to travel up to 30% for events, site visits, and vendor meetings. Peak travel during spring and fall event seasons.
The Skills And Experience You’ll Bring
- 4-6 years of experience in event marketing within a corporate marketing or agency environment, with demonstrated ownership of executive-facing customer events; large corporate event experience a plus.
- Proven experience managing multi-day proprietary events for enterprise customers, not just trade show booths.
- Strong strategic judgment: ability to assess customer and competitive dynamics and make decisions about event content and audience.
- Exceptional project management skills with proven ability to manage competing priorities and hard deadlines across multiple simultaneous events independently, without requiring approval on every detail.
- Negotiate contracts, book venues, and manage all logistics for events ranging from 30 to 1,000+ attendees.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with proven ability to coordinate across marketing, sales, product, and executive teams.
- Experience in B2B technology, SaaS, or marketplace environments; freight/logistics industry experience a significant plus.
- Effective communicator across customers, vendors, executive leadership, and internal stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage direct reports and agency partners.
- Bachelor's degree required.
