About the Role
Our Talent Science team is dedicated to ensuring an objective, scientifically rigorous, and efficient process for selecting exceptional new colleagues, irrespective of their location, culture, or background. Through a data-centric approach, we analyze hiring data to generate talent analytics and business intelligence that inform our hiring decisions. We utilize data to support evidence-based decision-making, integrating behavioral science throughout our selection process.
Working closely with our Hiring Leadership team, we ensure that hiring decisions are made effectively and that our hiring model supports the selection of world-class talent. This role reports directly to the Global Head of Talent Science.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team to achieve strategic objectives, focusing on product design and roadmap implementation.
- Analyze hiring data to connect performance outcomes with selection methods, identifying and progressing exceptional talent.
- Design professional processes and frameworks for efficient agenda delivery.
- Coach and mentor team members to develop analytical capabilities and thought leadership, creating training materials and documentation.
- Represent the team in the absence of the Head of Talent Science, acting as a trusted advisor and inspiring leader.
- Collaborate with company leaders to understand and communicate the vision for talent at Canonical.
What We Are Looking For
- Exceptional academic track record with an undergraduate degree in a people-based subject.
- 7+ years of experience in a Talent function, with deep expertise in recruitment, selection, and analytics.
- Proven analytical ability to dissect and analyze data using SQL, or Python, R, SPSS, with an appetite to learn SQL.
- Exposure to BI tools, specifically Superset.
- Exemplary leadership skills, including project management and coaching for roadmap execution.
- Exceptional written and spoken English with strong presentation skills for senior audiences.
- Sincere personal motivation aligned with Canonical's mission.
- Willingness to travel internationally 2-4 times a year for company events (up to two weeks).
