Embedded Software Engineer & Team Lead - Network Recorders, Lund

At Axis Communications, we are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer & Team Lead to join our System Products Recorder team at our HQ in Lund, Sweden. This role involves developing software for new Linux Network Recorders and storage features on our user-space Linux platform, AXIS OS.

What you’ll do here as an Embedded Software Developer & Team Lead

In this dual role, you will combine deep technical ownership with team leadership. You will be personally responsible for your projects while also guiding the team's overall delivery. This includes maintaining backlogs, ensuring sprints stay on track, and keeping stakeholders informed. You will act as a liaison between engineering and the broader organization, influencing both product development and development processes. Development is primarily conducted in C, Go, and Python within an embedded Linux environment, always with the end-user in mind.

Responsibilities:

• Developing software in Linux user space.
• Owning and maintaining the team backlog, including prioritizing, refining, and ensuring work is well-defined.
• Facilitating scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives) and driving continuous improvement.
• Coordinating delivery across internal teams and external partners, managing timelines, and identifying risks early.

You are an engineer who enjoys solving problems through code and thrives in a leadership role. You possess a structured mindset, can translate technical complexity into clear priorities, and are comfortable facilitating discussions and driving decisions. You are accountable for the team's performance while remaining hands-on with the codebase. You collaborate effectively across teams and with external partners, fostering an environment of open knowledge and idea exchange.

We'd love to hear that you have:

• Solid experience in C programming in an embedded environment, preferably in Linux user space.
• Proven experience as a backlog owner, scrum master, or technical project lead.
• Engineering bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, or equivalent.

Even better if you have:

• Experience in Python and Go.
• An interest in Software design and architecture.
• Experience working with Git, Gerrit, Jira, and Yocto.
• Domain knowledge of storage media.
