Job Summary
Audubon Companies is seeking a Civil/Structural Designer III to join our team in Houston, TX. This role involves performing design tasks for civil/structural equipment, components, structures, or systems, utilizing 2D or 3D CAD software and creating detailed drawings, bills of material, and technical specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of drafting standards, problem-solving abilities, and experience in relevant industries.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed drawings of parts and assemblies, including projections, sectional views, and standard specifications, from layouts, designs, and working drawings.
- Interpret verbal or written direction to initiate preliminary designs and perform basic calculations and trigonometry for area, volume, and slope.
- Check and verify the accuracy of drawings prepared by others, and revise drawings and bills of material (BOM) consistent with engineering changes.
- Implement revisions and change control per company standards under the direction of senior designers and engineers.
- Assemble information and reference drawings from various sources, continuously seeking product improvements and cost reductions.
- Determine and initiate drawings/models based on optimal views for communicating construction desires.
- Assist with performing field surveys, documenting existing conditions, and recommending design solutions.
- Check field red-lined drawings and generate accurate as-built drawings.
- Design and modify components or portions of systems to develop or improve them.
- Utilize 2D or 3D computer-aided design (CAD) software to create layouts and fabrication/assembly drawings for civil/structural systems, devices, and components.
- Create technical specifications for procurement, fabrication, and installation, and generate documentation for Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Use engineering sketches, specifications, and supporting documents for designing, detailing, documenting, and verifying civil/structural parts, subassemblies, assemblies, or system configurations.
- Identify dimensions, angles, curvatures, tolerances, and materials necessary for optimal construction, and analyze the effect of proposed changes for fit and interference issues, recommending solutions.
- Produce drawings and deliverables utilizing company standards within project schedules and budgets, maintaining proper file management.
- Interact and communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other consultants.
- Perform field data gathering to complete project deliverables within scope and schedule, and track overall schedule and budget for assigned projects.
- Comply with all company and client health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) standards and regulations.
- Actively participate in hazard identification and observation programs, reporting any unsafe acts, conditions, or incidents.

- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s Degree from a Technical Institution preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience preferred.
- AutoCAD software experience required.
- CADWorx and PDMS software experience preferred.
- Microsoft Office software experience preferred.
- Field experience required.
- Experience in offshore oil & gas, onshore gas processing, hydrocarbon storage and transportation, chemical manufacturing, or refining industry required.
- Small project lead experience required.
- Medium/Large project lead experience preferred.
