About the role
Data Platform Administrator / Operations Role
We are hiring for a Data Platform Administrator / operations role. This position focuses on the administration, performance, and optimization of data platforms, requiring strong developer skills. The ideal candidate will have a background in DBA, platform engineering, or infrastructure/operations with a history of on-call and production support, rather than a primary focus on data engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate production ownership of Databricks, including workspace administration, Unity Catalog, and cluster policies/governance.
- Manage Apache Iceberg and open table formats on S3, focusing on partition strategy, compaction, snapshot management, and schema evolution.
- Handle Amazon Redshift cluster operations, including performance tuning (WLM), security, and capacity management.
- Administer RDS / Aurora PostgreSQL, managing parameter groups, replication, backup/restore processes, query tuning, and access management.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in a Data Platform Administrator, DBA, platform engineer, or infrastructure/operations role.
- Demonstrated history of on-call and production support.
- Production ownership of Databricks, including administration and governance, beyond notebook and ETL tasks.
- Experience with Apache Iceberg / open table formats on S3.
- Proficiency in Amazon Redshift operations and performance tuning.
- Expertise in RDS / Aurora PostgreSQL administration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with data pipeline development.
- Knowledge of Spark is considered a secondary skill.
