About this role

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Platform team at Flexport, you will develop and enhance the developer platform that supports the engineering teams. Your responsibilities will include creating self-serve tooling, managing CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring a smooth developer experience with backend and frontend technologies. What you need

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, with time spent building developer platforms or internal tooling
  • Deep full-stack instincts, comfortable in backend services, frontend build pipelines, Kubernetes manifests, and CI configurations
  • Strong product instincts for internal users, identifying valuable builds and measuring their effectiveness
  • Expertise and hands-on experience with CI/CD systems (Github Actions preferred), container orchestrators (Kubernetes preferred), build tooling for multiple languages, backend-for-frontend (GraphQL preferred), service-to-service communication (gRPC preferred), metrics, and artifact storage
  • Pride in solving tech debt and fixing broken systems, with the ability to execute migrations
  • Independent mindset, thriving in ambiguity and identifying high-leverage problems

Nice to have

  • Experience in data-driven DevX development using metrics such as DORA
  • Experience with AWS
  • Experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM) at scale such as JWTs, OIDC and fine-grained authorization
  • Experience with Terraform
