About the role
Senior Technical Bridge QA Engineer
VHB is seeking a Senior Technical Bridge/QC Engineer to join our Structures group and expand our structural practice/capabilities. This role is integral to the planning, analysis, design, and detailing of bridge and other transportation-related structural projects. You will also mentor our structural team.
About the Role
In this senior technical role, you will lead the technical design of structural engineering projects within our bridge and structures group. Responsibilities include overseeing and mentoring engineering staff on best practices for planning, analysis, design, and detailing of bridge and other transportation-related structural projects.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the technical design of structural engineering projects.
- Directs and mentors team members in the development of design plans, technical oversight, specifications, design calculations, load ratings, cost estimates, reports, and final bid packages.
- Performs quality reviews of team members' work for accuracy and to ensure adherence to scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
- Manages, develops, organizes, and implements structural planning, analysis, and preliminary and final design document preparation for bridge-focused transportation projects.

Qualifications
- 15+ years of professional experience in structural bridge design, construction phasing, and complex bridge/transportation projects required.
- MassDOT/MBTA experience is preferred.
- PE license required.
- BS in Civil/Structural Engineering required.
- Master’s degree with structural emphasis a plus.
- Experience completing transportation studies, design reports, final design documents, and developing contract plans in conformity with accepted engineering standards and procedures.
- Independent experience developing bridge design and detailing (steel, concrete, prestressed concrete), and seismic analysis.
Location and Compensation
Salary range for Boston/Watertown, MA: $170,000-230,000. Salary range for Worcester, MA: $160,000-220,000. Compensation is based on qualifications, education, and experience.
