About the role
Planning Supervisor
The Senior Planner supervises and helps organize the company's sales to ensure that order fulfillment dates and production schedules are realistic. The Senior Planner manages the company's inventories and raw materials and works closely with the PM, purchasing, and customer departments. Effective inventory management allows the Senior Planner to track supplies to prevent shortages that could cause production delays. In situations where delays occur, the Senior Planner works with all company departments to find solutions and recover lost time. They serve as a communication bridge within the company, connecting management and production staff through meetings, reports, and the exchange of ideas between different company departments as well as with the customer. They are responsible for all aspects of scheduling, including forecasting demand for assigned customers. The Senior Planner plans production and inventory as well as short- and medium-term materials planning. If there are any capacity restrictions due to equipment, the Senior Planner will analyze potential solutions, such as using demand to produce in advance or working with the team for additional support. If there is a capacity restriction due to a lack of human resources, the Senior Planner may also need to use demand or schedule weekend and overtime work to meet the overall production plan. If there are material restrictions, they identify them months in advance and work with the purchasing department and the customer to resolve them. They seek and propose component alternatives to propose to the customer to avoid line stoppages. They analyze demand fluctuations and potential material restrictions to propose internal and customer solutions. They perform impact analyses and negotiate with customers for PPV payments or demand balancing.
