Our Legal Department is seeking a Video Evidence Specialist to join their team!

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Supervisor – Video Services, your position involves collecting, cataloguing, storing, disseminating, and redacting video images gathered from TTC surface vehicles, subway trains, subway stations, and other TTC buildings and facilities. You will carry out the processing and/or redaction of CCTV video and images from various TTC locations to support ongoing investigations including criminal and workplace matters. Video retrieval is conducted in accordance with the standards set by the Ontario Privacy Commission and TTC’s Video Recording Policy. You may be required to attend court on behalf of the TTC, provide evidence as it relates to CCTV video images, and act as a TTC representative with lawyers, agencies, and defendants regarding the disclosure of video images.

As the Video Evidence Specialist, you will work a 40-hour work week which requires working shifts, including weekends and statutory holidays.

  • Collect, catalogue, store, disseminate, and redact video images gathered from TTC surface vehicles, subway trains, subway stations, and other TTC buildings and facilities.
  • Process CCTV images from various TTC locations to support ongoing investigations, including criminal and workplace matters.
  • Conduct video retrieval activities in accordance with the standards set by the Ontario Privacy Commission and TTC’s Video Recording Policy, and in harmony with other TTC departments and Emergency Response agencies.
  • Conduct video redaction as required for various internal and external clients.
  • Assist members of the Investigative Services Unit with investigations of a complex, confidential, and sensitive nature as it relates to video retrieval issues.
  • Attend court on behalf of the TTC and provide evidence related to CCTV images, as well as act as the TTC representative with lawyers, agencies, and defendants regarding the disclosure of video images as required.
  • Demonstrate behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. Help remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers (within your area of responsibility) in accordance with TTC’s commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC’s policies.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • University Degree or College Diploma in a related discipline (i.e., Information Technology, Computer Science, Investigations, Business Management, Customer Service, or Law Enforcement) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid Province of Ontario Class G Driver’s Licence, and successfully complete the TTC’s instruction for the operation of a TTC automobile.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of computers, CCTV equipment, and related software.
  • Sound knowledge of the court system and its processes and procedures for presentation and preservation of evidence.
  • Sound judgement and well-developed investigative and organizational skills for planning and scheduling work, with demonstrated ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Good administrative and interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy for dealing with sensitive issues and investigations; effective verbal and written communication skills; and highly developed customer service skills.
  • Good general knowledge of the TTC's properties, operations, and security practices; and the TTC’s Video Recording Policy and related privacy policies.
  • Analytical skills and investigative techniques experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders, including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
