Senior Proposal Writer
The Judge Group is seeking a Technical Proposal Writer with comprehensive experience across the proposal writing lifecycle. This role is part of a small, dynamic team where versatility is key. The ideal candidate will manage and author a wide range of proposal content to support a growing Business Development team. Experience with IT service companies, particularly in cybersecurity, software development, network and telecommunications engineering, and general IT support services, is essential. Federal/DoD space experience is a requirement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of the proposal process, from strategy planning to final production, ensuring client-focused content and clear articulation of business value.
- Coordinate proposal management activities, including writing assignments, template creation, schedule management, kick-off decks, and compliance matrices.
- Prepare executive summaries for final bid review, adhering to company standards.
- Supervise a small proposal team, providing guidance and direction for writing assignments and ensuring remote team members meet deadlines with quality content.
- Oversee and ensure quality assurance in the use of AI-enabled proposal development tools (e.g., GovDash) with a 'human-in-the-loop' approach for compliance and accuracy.
- Independently research and write compelling original technical proposal content based on evolving Business Development needs.
- Review, edit, and rewrite content developed by others, and integrate content into proposal response documents.
- Develop technical content for business development efforts, white papers, and case studies in key customer verticals.
- Contribute to the design and development of professional templates using MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Creative Suite, aligning with company branding.
- Collaborate with a Graphic Designer to translate concepts into effective proposal graphics.
- Review RFIs and RFPs, developing compliant templates and response content.
- Lead color team reviews with proposal teams and stakeholders.
- Track proposal deadlines and ensure accurate, compliant submissions.
- Create and maintain opportunity records in the company CRM and on team calendars.
Requirements
- US citizenship eligible for a Secret security clearance (background check required).
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, IT, or a related STEM field.
- 8-10 years of work experience writing IT service proposals for Federal contracts.
- Minimum of 5 years of proposal management experience in addition to writing.
- Knowledge of Federal/DoD contracting and proven experience writing and managing winning Federal/DoD proposals valued over $30M.
- Experience with 8(a) sole source proposals is a plus.
- Experience utilizing an AI-enabled proposal development tool and generating prompts is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to independently write original technical proposal content (IT, cyber, networking, software development, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience working in a small team or small business with limited proposal resources.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Self-starter with strong critical thinking skills.
- Willingness to work outside normal business hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet proposal deadlines.
- Comfortable collaborating with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to effectively gather input from technical and non-technical teams and drive business results.
- Exceptional ability to translate complex topics into clear, concise, and compelling content.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), including template creation, styles, formulas, and macros.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro).
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Knowledge of Federal/DoD contracting, FAR/DFARs.
