About the role
Project Manager
This position is intended for roles requiring technical experience such as engineering or construction. Manages the entire project lifecycle from project definition through implementation. Accountable for meeting agreed upon scope, cost, schedule and quality measures. Develops project plan and drives project milestones. Establishes effective communication plan with project team and key stakeholders. Provides day-to-day direction to project resources and ensures the project teams are provided the resources and support that enable the teams to reach their defined objectives. Ensures effective change management occurs throughout the course of the project. Responsible for preparation of documentation and status reports.
Role requires excellent oral and written communications, interpersonal, negotiation, project planning, judgment, leadership, decision-making, analysis and problem-solving skills. Overseeing consultants completing protection coordination studies across Xcel's enterprise. Managing engineering studies, financial forecasts, project plans, and reporting. The project is part of wildfire mitigation efforts and runs through December 2027. Overseeing consultants, reviewing spend, updating forecasts, administering project plans, tracking progress, and preparing weekly/monthly reports.
Work Environment / Team Culture: Mix of teamwork and individual contribution.
Qualifications
- Technical education preferred but not required
- Financial acumen (accruals, forecasting)
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams
- Knowledge of electric distribution and utility business
- Microsoft Office
- SAP (preferred, not required)
- Organizational skills

- Entry-level to 5 years of experience
- Open to recent grads with strong learning ability
- SAP experience
- Background in electric distribution or system protection projects
